Merle M. Dawson, Former Nevada Man, Dies in Texas
Funeral services for Merle M. Dawson, 52, Dallas, Texas, resident for 18 years and co-owner of the F. C. Crane Co., were held at 2 p. m., Tuesday at Weiland Funeral home.
Mr. Dawson died Saturday at a Dallas hospital.
A native of Nevada, Iowa, Mr. Dawson was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion and the Highland Park Methodist Church. He was a son of the late Charles H. Dawson of Nevada. He resided at 8400 Meadowbrook Rd.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Dawson; a son, Richard M. Dawson; a daughter, Miss Marie Ruth Dawson; a brother, Herbert E. Dawson, all of Dallas; five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Bishop, New York City; Mrs. Mildred Ballard, Marshalltown, Iowa; Mrs. Emza Godwin, Boone, Iowa; Mrs. Drury Williford, Memphis, Tenn., and Miss Mable Dawson, Dallas.
Dr. Marshall T. Steel, pastor of the Highland Park Methodist Church, officiated at the service.
Entombment was in Hillcrest Mausoleum with the following pallbearers: S. Stanley A. Browning, E. O. Terry, Walter Smith, William J. Spies, Leslie Halley and Daniel B. Mahoney.
