Mrs. B. B. Child Laid to Rest In Nevada Cemetery
Funeral services for Mrs. Bert B. Child, who passed away at her home, 734 Tenth street, Nevada on Sunday morning were held at the Memorial Lutheran church Friday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Ernest P. Windman officiating at the last rites.
The many beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. Alta Karges and Mrs. Rose Stratton.
Harry Christiansen of Boone, former Memorial Lutheran choir director, was at the organ. At the beginning of the service he played three request hymns, "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," "Abide with Me." His concluding organ numbers were "Peace, Perfect Peace," Bach's "Come Soothing Death", Largo, from the New World Symphony and Mendelsohn's "Consolation."
The casket bearers were: Carl Stone, Kenneth Kinsey, R. A. Davis, Lester Corbin, John Hattery and Bob Karges. Committal was in Nevada's beautiful City of the Dead.

Olive L. Stamm was born at Lena, Illinois, on June 5, 1868, the fifth of eight children born to Elisa [should be Elias] and Mary Swan Stamm. She came to Nevada, Iowa, as a girl of 12 with her parents in 1880, where she attended the Nevada public schools. She was married to Bert B. Child at Nevada on December 10, 1894. To this union two children were born, Lloyd C. and Mary L., now Mrs. Jess Stone of Glendale, California.
She passed away peacefully after a lingering illness and declining health, at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 20, 1947, during the tolling of the church bells at the age of 79 years, one month and 15 days.
She was a member of Memorial Lutheran church her entire life in Nevada and has worshipped with each of the twelve pastors who have served the church since its founding in 1882. Her farther having helped establish Memorial Lutheran church, after moving to Nevada in 1880.
She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge, the Women's Relief Corps, the Order of Eastern Star, and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was always active in all branches of church work (until recent years when her health prevented) and a faithful and devout worshipper in the church service.
She leaves besides her devoted husband, her two children, Mary Child Stone of Glendale, Calif., and Lloyd Child of Nevada, two sisters, Mrs. J. J. Eimers of So. Sioux City, Nebr., and Mrs. W. F. Tetr of Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Barbara Child McCord of Ames, Marjorie and William Child of Nevada, and one great granddaughter, Donna Kay McCord of Ames; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
