WILLIAM I. CONYERS
Memorial services for William I. Conyers, a former longtime Anchorage resident, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel by the Lake in Juneau. There will be a reception following the service at the Conyers' residence at Indian Cove.
Mr. Conyers, 64, died April 8 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born April 17, 1922, in Slater, Iowa, he had lived in Anchorage from 1946-1966. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Agency in Anchorage from 1946-1966, in Juneau from 1966-1971, and in Fairbanks from 1971-1977, at which time he retired as a section manager. Following his retirement, he moved to Juneau and became a commercial fisherman with his boat, the Big Fisherman.
He leaves his wife of 41 years, Mary, of Juneau; his son, Bill, of Soldotna; his daughters, Mary Ann Newell of Washington, D.C., Diana Conyers of Anchorage, and Ann Benson of Seattle; and his sisters, Katherine Schaffer of Preston, Iowa, and Corrine Hildebrand of Clinton, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the Chapel by the Lake in Juneau or the American Cancer Society, Juneau, 99801.
