Funeral Services Held Saturday for Former Colo Man

Colo, April 11--Funeral services for Roy L. Cook, Cedar Rapids, were conducted in the Turner chapel in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Merton P. Green of St. Paul's church, at 10 A. M. Saturday. Interment was in the Colo cemetery Saturday afternoon with Masonic services at the graveside in charge of Columbia Lodge No. 292 of Colo, conducted by Claude R. Smith of Ames.

Roy L. Cook, 236 Twenty-sixth street drive SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, pharmacist at the G. R. Drug Co. until he became ill a month ago, passed away at a Cedar Rapids hospital at 2:37 P. M. Wednesday, April 2, 1947.

Born June 3, 1973 in Scotland county, Mo., he had spent the greater part of his life at Colo, Iowa, where he owned and operated the drug store for a number of years, and after selling out, engaged in carpenter work. While in Colo he built their home which is now occupied by Fred Kruse.

He had been a registered pharmacist for 49 years, and had been in the drug business in Toledo and Clutier before coming to Colo. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1928. He had been making his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Kadlec.

Surviving besides the daughter, are two sisters, Mrs. F. A. McManis of Winfield, Kansas, and Mrs. Hallie Stone of Arbela, Mo., and a brother, Dr. Clarence F. Cook of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in August 1932, and by an infant daughter.

Mr. Cook attended the Methodist church and was a member of Columbia Lodge No. 292, A. F. & A. M. at Colo. He was a graduate of the Valpariso University school of pharmacy.
