Last Rites for Annas A. Jacobson At Story City
Story City, Feb. 6 -- Funeral services were held in the St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City on Tuesday afternoon, February 4, at two o'clock for Annas A. Jacobson, with a prayer service preceding the services in the home at 1:30. Mr. Orville Olson sang at the home and at the church, two hymns, "Behold a Host" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul," was sung by Mrs. Robert Hermanson. His pastor, Rev. S. T. Nelson officiated and Rev. Joseph Knutson of Ames, a second cousin to Annas Jacobson, brought a greeting.
Annas Jacobson, the son of Andrew H. and Sarah Thompson Jacobson, was born on the homestead west of Story City on January 23, 1888. With the exception of eight years spent in Longmont, Colorado, he farmed the homestead, living there until he and his wife moved to Story City a year ago.
He was united in marriage to Ragnhild Harvei on February 5, 1913. Three children were born to this union: Mrs. Constance Scott and Mrs. Ruth Ardell Maness of San Francisco, California, and Arnold of Story City.
Mr. Jacobson was a life-long member of the St. Petri Lutheran church of Story City, baptized by Rev. Amlund, and confirmed by Rev. Vangness on Nov. 17, 1901. He served in various capacities in the church, being a member of the board of finance and trustees during the past years.
Death was caused by a tumor in the brain. He passed away at the St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 59 yeas and 7 days.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife and the above named daughters and son, a foster son, Jimmy Ewing, and two grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Tillie Johnson, of Des Moines, and a half-brother, Theroy Jacobson, of Story City.
Casket bearers were the following cousins: L. O. Jacobson, George Jacobson, Theodore Jacobson, William Jacobson, Ole O. Jacobson and Albert S. Askelson.
Burial was in the Story City cemetery.
Memorial gifts given in memory of the departed totatled $186.50.
