Sudden Death Of Fred L. Gates, 63
Fred L. Gates, 63, 805 Grand Avenue, Ames, former resident of Nevada, died suddenly Sunday at 8:30 a. m. of a heart attack. He had apparently been in his usual health when stricken.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Duckworth-Stevens Funeral Home in Ames with Dr. R. M. Shipman officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
Born June 24, 1890 in Otho, Ia. Mr. Gates had been employed the past eight years at the Carr Hardware in Ames. Of his 20 years in Story county the greater share of it was lived in Nevada.
On Nov. 20, 1920 he was married to Julia Lawson in Council Bluffs, Ia.
He was a veteran of World War I and the Ames American Legion. He was also a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are the wife Julia, and the daughter Shirley, Mrs. Robert Wilkening of Des Moines.
