MISS RUBY CHITTY
The death of Miss Ruby Helen Chitty of Fernald, which event occurred at the Iowa Sanitarium last Thursday evening, came as quite a surprise to friends and acquaintances not in close relations with her during the past three weeks. Her health had been fairly good, at least, until quite recently. Some weeks ago, however, she became afflicted with appendicitis and probably other related ailments and was taken May 11th to the sanitarium for treatment. She underwent an operation, which seemed to be successful and from which she rallied well and appeared to make satisfactory improvements toward a complete recovery of health, until Sunday, May 16th. From that time she began to fail. Soon her case became critical and terminated fatally as above stated.
Miss Chitty was a young lady of the substantial kind, interested in domestic affairs rather than in high-flying social doing, especially faithful to home obligations and helpfully responsive to the betterment calls of her local community. She was born in Richland township July 17 1900, and her life of nearly twenty years had been pleasantly and usefully passed in that part of the county. Her funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, May 23rd, in St. Paul's Lutheran church at Fernald, and conducted by Rev. J. N. Swihart of this city, assisted by Rev. Muller, the local pastor. The interment was in Oak Hill cemetery, near Fernald.
Of her immediate family relatives she leaves her mother, beloved of Fernald, Mrs. Belle Chitty, and her four brothers, Fred W., Henry F., John L. and Ray Chitty, all of the same locality. A wide circle of relatives, neighbors and other friends deeply sympathize with Mrs. Chitty and her family in the great bereavement that has come into their life experience.
