Pioneer Man Died at Ames

Special to the Journal.
Ames, Dec. 26--Avestus Shaw, 73, who was born near Bloomington and has spent the most of his life in Story county, is dead here, having passed away Thursday morning, victim of cancer of the stomach. Mr. Shaw, a retired farmer, is survived by his daughter Mrs. Howard Adams at whose home he died, a son Fred Shaw of Des Moines and sister Mrs. Mary Johnson of Santa Rosa, Calif.
