Former Story County Man Passed Away

Special to the Journal.
Ames, Nov. 13--George Roll, former Ames citizen, died Sunday at the home of his son Hal Roll in Grand Island, Neb., he being 85 year old at the time of his death.

Though he had been quite feeble for some time Mr. Roll was able to be up and about until the Tuesday before.

Born in Butlerville, Ohio, on July 26, 1846, Mr. Ross came to Iowa when a young man and engaged in farming and it was at Tama he was united in marriage to Nancy Morrison.

About 1900 they moved to Ames where in 1912 Mrs. Roll passed away. Two sons have also preceeded Mr. Roll in death--Carl dying in infancy and George F. of Ames.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Louise Graham of Funkley, Minn.; Mrs. Mary Kuhns of Mapleton, Iowa; Mrs. Ruth Gross of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Edna Wood of Santa Ana, Calif. Three sons, Gene Roll of Des Moines; Hal Roll of Grand Island, Neb., and Will Roll of Marshalltown, Iowa; Sixteen grand children and one sister, Mrs. Louise Starkey of Leganon, Ohio.

Several of Mr. Roll's children had visited recently when notified of the serious turn in his condition.

The body was brought to Ames Monday, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Hal Roll and the funeral was held from the Adams Chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 p. m., burial being beside his wife in the Ames cemetery.
