FORMER COLLINS WOMAN IS DEAD
DR. MARY PITCHER PASSED AWAY AT TAMA FRIDAY NIGHT
Special to the Journal.
Collins, April 4--Dr. Mary Pitcher, 47, former resident of the Collins neighborhood, died Friday evening at 11:00, at Tama, where she has been living for some time. She was ill about a week and death was due to nervous breakdown and rheumatic fever.*Funeral services will be held at Methodist church in Tama Sunday at 2:00, after which the body will be brought to Collins, for interment in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Pitcher leaves besides her husband Dr. W. S. Pitcher and a step-son Glee Pitcher of Tama, a sister Mrs. Walter Pitcher of Rhodes, a brother Harrison Huffaker of Collins and another Cyrus Huffaker of Rhodes.
She was born on a farm south of Marshalltown 47 year ago, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. [should be J. W.] Huffaker. When she was about 13 years of age the family moved to Kansas, then to Missouri and finally back to Iowa and lived near Collins for some time.
She was a graduate from the National Chiropractic college in Chicago and was married to Dr. Pitcher, a chiropractic practitioner also, about 11 years ago.
She was a member of the Seventhday Adventist faith and was well-known to many Nevada people.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Her death record gives cause of death as endocarditis.
