Funeral Services For Mrs. Holcraft

Special to the Journal.
Slater, April 4--Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Holcraft were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock, at Madrid and at the Bethlehem church at Slater at 11 o'clock. The services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. E. R. Rorem. Two hymns "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" were sung by the congregation. A Norwegian solo, "Jeg Ser Dig Sodo Lam," was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen. The pall bearers were Charley Ryen, Joe Houge, Henry Ersland, O. R. Olson, John Van Gundy and Albert Lande.

Bronhilda Erickson, was born the 20th of May 1846 at Eide, Olen, Norway. Her parents were Erick and Martha Oline Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in Aalund's church in Olen, Norway. She came to America in 1882 and settled in Sheldahl and spent seven years at Des Moines. Her marriage to Alfred Holcraft took place in March 1894. They spent seven years at Des Moines. Her marriage to Alfred Holcraft took place in March 1894. They spent seventeen years on a farm near Sheldahl and then moved to Madrid. Her husband died in 1901. Mrs. Holcraft moved to Slater in 1922 and made her home here until 1929, when she entered the Lutheran Old Peoples Home at Madrid. She was ill will the flu for about a week and died April 1, 1931 She was a member of the Bethlehem church and the Ladies Aid. The latter society gave five dollars to the Missions in her memory. A number of friends presented flowers. Mrs. Holcraft had no near relatives. She was 84 years, 10 months and 11 days.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to her marriage record, Hilda Ericson, daughter of Erick Olson and Martte Olene Thorson, married Alfred Hollcraft, son of Robert Hollcraft and Susanah Kimbrough, on 8 March 1894 in Boone County, Iowa.
