DR. H. K. HAEREM DIED AT STORY CITY HOME
WELL KNOWN PHYSICIAN PASSED AWAY SATURDAY EVENING

Story City, Feb. 16--The messenger of death hovered over Story City during the 24 hour period beginning Saturday evening, taking a toll of three lives of prominent citizens of the community.Dr. H. K. Haerem, 58, for 26 years a medical practitioner of Story City died at his home here Saturday evening at 8:30, death being due to Bright's disease and high blood pressure, from which he had been confined to his home for six weeks.
Dr. Haerem, a native of Norway, received his education at the University of Oslo, and later took advanced work in Germany. He was married to Barbara Torp in Norway in 1901 and came to America in 1904.
Coming to Story City that year he became associated in the practice with Dr. Schwartz, then a well know physician here and this continued for three years.
One daughter, Elsie died in 1908 an a son, Peter, died about five years ago. He leaves besides his wife, two daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. J. A. McFadden of Chicago and Miss Unni Haerem, a teacher in the schools at Eagle Grove. The one son is Alfred, a student at Decorah college.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, at St. Petri church, with Rev. Scarvie in charge. Interment will be in the Story City cemetery.
