SLATER MAN IS DEAD

Ole Apland Passed Away At Age Of Seventy-Seven

Slater, June 22--Ole Apland, 77, died Friday evening June 17th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Erick Ihle where he had made his home for some time. Funeral services were held at the Lincoln church, Monday afternoon. Rev. P. Buland spoke in the Norwegian language. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. A duet "Is It True" was sung by Miss Ruth Halverson and Miss Josie Ryg. A solo "Does Jesus Care" by Mrs. A. L. Peterson. A solo "In The Garden" by Miss Josie Ryg. The deceased was survived by his brother Henry Apland of Sioux Falls, S. D., Albert Apland of Canistota, S. D., his sisters, Mrs. Peter Skola of Viborg, S. D. and Mrs. P. D. Combs of Eldon, Mo., all present at the services. Ole Apland was born at Chelsvig, Oll., Norway, December 4th, 1849. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Apland he came to America in 1865 and located in Polk county on a farm west of Sheldahl. He was the eldest of ten children. At his death he was 77 years, 6 months and 13 days. The pall-bearers were Ole Chelsvig and Peter Apland of near Huxley, Knute Apland of Cambridge, Erick Ihle, H. E. Halverson and Jacob Ersland. Those in attendance from out-of-town at the services besides the sisters and brothers were: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chader and daughter Rachel Louise of Des Moines, P. D. Coombs of Eldon, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. K. Apland, Mr. and Andrew Freeland of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. Will Baker and daughter Julia of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. A. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Anfinson and daughter Kristie, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Fjelland, Mr. and Mrs. O. Chelsvig of near Huxley.
