DR. CESSNA DIED SUDDENLY TODAY WHILE AT HIS DESK

Ames, Oct. 22--Dr. Orange Howard Cessna, 79, chaplain of Iowa State college since 1900, died of heart failure shortly before noon today.

He was stricken while dictating to his secetary in the Memorial Union building.

Dr. Cessna was a member of the first class of Iowa State and was known to thousands of ex-students in all parts of the country.

Orange H. Cessna was a native of Kenton, Ohio, but came to Iowa with his parents when but 4 years of age, and the family was among the pioneers of Nevada.

He entered Iowa State college when a boy of 16 and graduated with the first class--the class of '72, later entered in the ministry, but came back to his Alma Mater as chaplain a third of a century ago and had continued here since.

The wife has been dead for a number of years, but he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Morgan of Ames; two sisters, Mrs. Zella Fitton of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Wilda Neasham of Ottumwa; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Minnie B. Cessna of Nevada and a wide circle of friends who will mourn his sudden death.
