CHARLES H. JOHNSON
Charles H. Johnson, 91, of Nevada died Sunday, Feb. 17, 1985, at Story County Hospital in Nevada.
He was born April 2, 1893, at Cerrillos, N.M. to Sidney A. and Lizzie (Hart) Johnson.
He was married to Hazel Ritchard [should be Ritchhart] on June 19, 1912 at Des Moines. They farmed in the Ankeny area until 1935 when they moved to the Fernald area in Story County. In 1951 they moved to Nevada.
Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer. He was a livestock buyer and served as Story County weed commissioner for 28 years.
He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada.
Survivors include a son, Dale Johnson of Zearing, Ia., two daughters, Lois Nichols of Ankeny, Ia., and Norma Plagmann of Cedar Rapids, Ia., a brother Guy Johnson of Denver, Colo., 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel on March 6, 1980, a son, Charles Jr. in 1940, an infant daughter, ---- brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services ------ Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, with Pastor Forrest E. Chaffee officiating. Interment will be in Mitchellville Cemetery, Mitchellville, Iowa.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial contributions may be given to the Van Fund for Story County Hospital Long Term Care Unit or the Memorial Lutheran Church.
