Dickinson Funeral Monday Afternoon
Special to the Journal.
Colo, April 5--Funeral services for James K. Dickinson, 79, well-known farmer, who died so suddenly at his farm home southwest of here Saturday noon, were held Monday in the Methodist church at Colo, the sermon being preached by Elder H. A. Fish of Marshalltown, assisted by Rev. Scheuerman of Colo. Interment was in the Colo cemetery.James K., the son of Samuel and Mary Ann Dickinson was born in Tipton county, Indiana April 1, 1853 and died at his home near Colo, April 2, 1932 being at the time of his death 79 years and 1 day old.
When a boy 11 years of age his parents came to Story county in a covered wagon train settling south of Colo, where his life was spent until his sudden death cut short his plans and activities.
He was united in marriage to Lorella King [should be Loretta King], March 4, 1880 and to this union five children were born, Dora, Lilly, John S., Delbert and Della. Lilly (Mrs. A. E. Harris) and John S. preceded him in answering the call of death.
Mrs. Dickinson and three children Mrs. Ora Fish of Zearing, Delbert and Mrs. R. M. Thornton of near Colo, with one brother, J. A. Dickinson of Lincoln, Neb., 11 grand children and three great grand children and a large number of other relatives are mourning his passing.
Mr. Dickinson was a loving husband, a kind father, a true friend, and a good neighbor. He was highly respected by all who knew him, bring recognized as a man of high ideals and noble ambition. His death is a loss keenly felt in the home and in the community.
Those attending the funeral, from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fish of Crandon, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Harris of Belle Plaine, Mr. and Mrs. Ozmun of Independence and Mr. Ed King of Des Moines.
