FRANK MORRIS DIES MONDAY; RITES WED.
Frank E. Morris, 81, retired Ames businessman, died Monday at 10 p.m. in his home, 703 Burnett, of a blood clot on the brain after an illness of nine weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Adams chapel with Rev. Robert Pinnell, pastor of First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal cemetery.
Mr. Morris, born July 31, 1867, at Morrison, Ill., came to Ames in 1875, and in 1893 started a livery business with Jay Allen. A year later he continued that business with his brother Lynn, a retired Ames fire chief, for four years.
In 1898 Frank Morris took over and operated the business by himself. In 1909 he built the Morris building, now occupied by the Spurgeon store, where he operated until his retirement in 1916.
Mr. Morris was married Dec. 5, 1894, in Ames to Ella M. Dodds, who survives.Other survivors are three sons Glen R. (Newt), Clare (Pete) and Ralph D. (Mike), all of Ames; his brother, Lynn, and a sister, Gertrude Morris, both of Ames.
