THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 5, 2005.

Betty Marie King, 87, of Iowa Falls, died Saturday, July 2, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa Falls. Inurnment will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Betty Marie Pfandhoefer was born March 30, 1918, in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of Henry John and Malo Claire (Cadie) Pfandhoefer. She attended Evanston Community School and then attended Coe College, receiving a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She taught school for one year and then was employed by the Continental Bank in Chicago. She married Cecil Fay King Oct. 1, 1948, at the Northwestern Chapel, Evanston, Ill. To this union four daughters were born: Janann, Carol, Peggy and Sally. They later moved to Iowa Falls, where she and her husband operated the King Construction Company. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and Kappa Sigma Phi sorority.

She is survived by four daughters, Janann King of Ames, Carol (John) Rewerts of Iowa Falls, Peggy (Ron) Osborn of Dixon, Ill., and Sally 'Sarah' (Christopher) Conklin of Menasha, Wis.; one grand daughter, Emily Conklin of Menasha, Wis.; and one sister, Sally Welday (David) of Lake Wylie, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Malo Pfandhoefer; her husband, Cecil F. King; and one sister, Dorothy Erbes.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at First Congregational Church and also following the memorial service.

Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
