Pioneer Cambridge Woman Is Dead; Funeral On Friday
Cambridge, Jan. 26--Mrs. Maren Lewis, pioneer Cambridge woman, who would have been 84 years of age on March 1, died last evening at 5 o'clock, at her home in Cambridge.
Her husband, Jonas Lewis, died about 9 years ago and her stop-daughter, Carrie Lewis, had lived with her.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Lutheran church in Cambridge, and burial will be in Palestine cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Stavanger, Norway, in 1859 and came to Cambridge as a girl. She was married in 1888 to Jonas Lewis.
Seven children were born to and survive Mr. and Mrs. Lewis of Mason City, Mrs. Marie Stolee of Garden City, Mrs. Elsie Webb of Cambridge; and sons Clarence, Oswald, Marion and Milford Lewis, all of Cambridge. She also leaves three step-daughters, Miss Carrie Lewis, who made her home with the deceased, and Mrs. Maggie Anderson of Cambridge and Anna Tesdall of Cambridge, and step-sons Osmond Lewis of Belmond, Oscar Lewis of North Bend, Oregon and John Lewis of Kanawha, Iowa.
