Last Rites Held For Lowell Crosby
Funeral services for Lowell Crosby was held at the Nevada E. U. B. church Tuesday, May 12, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. A. T. Washington officiating.
Soloist John Montgomery sang, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Beulah Settle at the organ.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Roger French, Mrs. Jack Heintz and Mrs. Eugene Cook. Pallbearers were Jack Heintz, Roger French, Roy Alexander, Frank Settle, Bill Settle and Eugene Cook.
Burial was at Zearing.
Obituary
James Lowell Crosby, son of Walter Crosby and Effie Crosby Deal was born June 21, 1907, at St. Anthony, Iowa, and passed away May 9, 1953 at the Story County hospital after being hospitalized the past seven weeks, at the age of 45 years, 11 months and 13 days.
He was united in marriage to Eva Deal on December 27, 1933 at Des Moines, Iowa. To this union were born four daughters, Phylis Elaine, Donna Mae, Gloria Ann and Pamela Jane.
Prior to coming to Iowa he lived and attained school at Redwood Falls, Minnesota, where he was a member of Christian church. He came to Iowa in 1925 and has since resided in Story County where he has been farming north of Nevada for the past 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Crosby in 1928 and by one daughter Gloria Ann in 1947.
Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Eva and three daughters, Phylis Elaine, Donna Mae and Pamela Jane all at home; his mother Mrs. E. M. Deal of Zearing; one brother, Elmo of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters, Jeanne, Mrs. Lloyd Kline, and Avalea, Mrs. Max Rankin, of Nevada; as well as a great host of relatives and friends.
He was honored and loved as husband and father of his family circle.
