Former Colo Woman Died In Minnesota

Mrs. Amanda E. Thornton, long time resident of the Colo community, -- died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. A. Porter near ------. M--- at the --- -- ------ a- --- 2- ---.

Funeral services were held at Winnebago, Minn. Tuesday ---- her brothers John and Charles Binder --- ---- ----- of Colo ------ --- ----- the -----.

Amanda E. Binder, daughter of Carl and Mary Binder was born May --, 1865. With her parents ---- ----- -- ---- ---- from Germany to America when --- ----- made her home.

---- -- ----- her residence in Canada --- ----- came to Iowa where they settled on what is --- ------ as the Binder farm 4 miles northeast of Colo in Story county.

It was on this farm that she grew womanhood. On December 22nd 1887 she was united in marriage to George L. Thornton who preceded her in death.

She was the mother of eight children, seven whom survive her. They are:

Mrs. A. C. Porter of Winnebago, Minnesota,
Mrs. L. A. Porter of Huntley, Minnesota,
Mrs. - - A---- of Hershey, Nebraska,
Mrs. C. R. Swartz of Ringsted, Iowa,
M- ---- Thornton of Des Moines, Iowa,
M-- ---- Thornton of O-ak--, Minnesota,
M-- ---- Thornton of O-ak--, Minnesota,
M- ---- --- of -----, Minnesota

Mrs. Thornton --- ---- -- survived by 5 sons --- -- daughters----, -- grandchildren --- by 3 brothers and one sister:
Mr. Frank Binder of Baraboo, Wisconsin,
Mr. Charles Binder of Colo, Iowa,
Mr. John Binder of Colo, Iowa,
Mrs. William Morgan of Scranton, Iowa.
