Airhart Funeral at Whittemore Tuesday afternoon
Funeral services for George H. Airhaft, 76, earlier day resident of Story county, who died at his home at Whittemore, Kossouth county Saturday, were held there on Tuesday, followed by burial at West Bend.
Mr. Airhart was well known in Story county in an earlier day having lived northwest of Nevada as a boy and later married to a daughter of a Richland township pioneer family. He made his home in Zearing for a number of years before locating in Kossouth county where he was in turn a farmer and engaged in business.
George Henry Airhart, son of David and Jane Airhart, was born at Rockford, Ill., Dec. 20, 1858 and died at his home in Whittemore, Iowa, August 17, 1935 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 27 days.
He came to Story county when a small boy and grew to manhood there.
On the 8th of November, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Catherine Pool and to this union three children were born, Clyde Airhart and Mrs. S. A. Savage of Whittemore and Mrs. Ross Fry of Nevada, Iowa Mrs. Airhart passing away on August 3, 1904.
On August 28, 1907, he was united in marriage of Mrs. Caroline King [born Mary Caroline "Carrie" Hardy] of Nevada, Iowa, and to this union three children were born, Merle and Ethel of Whittemore and Mrs. Arthur Collins of Kansas City, Mo.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and children, 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, three sisters, 2 brothers and a host of nieces and nephews.
