Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Gibson

Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, July 30--Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Gibson, who passed away Thursday were held Saturday at 2:30 from the Presbyterian church with Rev. H. D. Robinson of Bondurant in charge.

The songs "The City Foursquare," "Sometime We'll Understand" were sung by a double quartette composed of Mrs. L. B. Olinger, Mrs. Dick Cuff, Mrs. A. M. Christy, Mrs. O. W. Parker, Ross and Clair Olinger, Dale John and Lyle Scott with Mrs. H. Larson at the piano. Mrs. O. W. Parker sang "Crossing the Bar" as a solo.

The pall bearers were: M. E. Smith, C. E. Cooper, Carl Whitney, Earl Bowen, J. H. Cleverley and Milton Boster. Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery at the side of her husband, John C. Gibson, who preceded her in death by several years.

Mary Helen Knox, daughter of William and Mary Knox was born near Keota, Iowa, Dec. 11, 1862 and spent her early life in that community. She attended Washington academy at Washington, Iowa, after which she taught school in Washington county until her marriage to John C. Gibson, Feb. 28, 1883.

They established their home on a farm near Washington, which was their home until the year 1893 when they moved to Maxwell. To this union was born five children, all of whom survive: Mrs. Rufus Bullard, Walter A. Gibson, Mrs. Van V. Johnson of Maxwell, Mrs. H. L. Reinhart of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. H. T. Thompson of Des Moines.

Out of town relatives attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Gibson and daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Gunn of St. James, Minn., Mrs. Josephine Montgomery and daughter Florence Joy of Lincoln, Neb., Richard Bullard of Ottumwa, Eleanor Johnson and Ray Slater of Ames.
