Funeral Services for Henry Myers

Funeral services for Henry Myers were held at home in Des Moines Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. and at Colo Wednesday at the Evangelical church, Rev. Woods, officiating.

Relatives from away were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myers and son Harry R. of Custer City, Okla. and and son, Dr. Fred Myers of Leedy, Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Allen, son Charles and daughter, Mrs. Esther Carroll and Mrs. Kate Essex, of Laurens, Mr. John Stewart of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Myers of Minburn, Mr. and Mrs. Leshe Tisdale and Bernice and Clifford Myers of Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford of Slater and numerous relatives and friends from Nevada and vicinities.

Music was furnished by the men's quartet of Colo composed of S. D. Rinehart, Art Perry, Charles Wilson, John Lounsberry with Mrs. Dickenson, pianist.

Songs "Old Rugged Cross," "Shadows," "Going Down the Valley." Flower girls Mrs. Lois Yeager, Mrs. Buelah Perry. Pall bearers were nephews Clarence, Wilbur, Clint, Jake, Ray and Elmer Myers. Burial was in Colo cemetery.

Henry Myers was born in Indiana April 10, 1870 and passed away at his home in Des Moines Sunday, June 23, of a sudden heart attack. He was not ill and even worked the day before his death.

He came with his parents to Iowa during his boyhood and lived here the rest of his life. He was untied in marriage to Harriet J. Woodford in April, 1889. Three children were born to this union, Emmett of Story City, Bertha of Mingo and Harry of State Center.

His wife preceded him in death passing away January 24, 1917. In February 1918 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Etta Beck of Des Moines and she also preceded him in death, passing away in June 1928.

Besides his children he leaves to mourn his death, one sister, Mrs. Haley Allen of Laurens, Ia. and two brothers Charley of Custer City, Okla., and Lafayette of Nevada. Also twelve grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Three brothers, Joe, Lon and Jasper preceded him in death.

His early married life was spent in Story county where he farmed until 1922 when he moved to Des Moines, where he has since been employed at the Iowa Packing company. In character he was like his Prussian ancestors, rugged, brave and fearless. He was a good and generous father and husband and a true friend. His passing breaks the last ties of home and is most deeply felt.
