Roland, May 11--Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Salem Lutheran church for Mrs. Anna Mannes, age 86 years, who passed away Sunday evening following an illness of some duration, at the Story City old peoples home.

The services were in charge of her former pastor, Rev. Olaf Holen, who was assisted by Supt. A. C. Molstre of the Story City old peoples home, Rev. M. O. Sumstad of Roland, and the deceased son, Rev. Albert Mannes of Jackson, Minn.

Special music was furnished by the Ladies' Aid chorus, and by Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd, who sang a duet. The pallbearers were old former neighbors and friends of the Mannes family, J. O. Josendal, G. Herrigstad, C. H. Risdal, Jacob Risdal, B. A. Rasmussen and Paul Pederson.

Mrs. Mannes was a native of Norway, coming here over fifty years ago, and settled in this community, with her family, where they had since lived with the exception of three years, which they had spent in Texas. About six years ago she and her husband gave up housekeeping and lived with their children for several years and then went to the Story City old peoples home, where they had since resided.

He aged husband preceded her in death, having passed away last New Year's day. Seven children were born to them of whom one son and one daughter died in infancy. She is survived by five sons, John at Thompson, Rev. Albert Mannes at Jackson, Minn, Theodore at Sisseton, S. D., Henry at West Fargo, N. D., and Armie [should be Arnie] at Dazey, N. D. All of the sons were present at the funeral.
