THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 21, 1949, page 1, column 5. "E. H. WHITNEY PASSED AWAY IN CALIFORNIA. - Edwin Hales Whitney passed away Jun 29, at his home in Altadena, Calif. Whitney was a native of Maxwell although he had been a resident of Altadena for the past 26 years. Whitney, a member of the Altadena Kiwanis Club is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Dean Barrick of Altadena; four sons, Frances E. of Altadena, Dr. Robert L. of Pasadena, John H. and James A., both of North Hollywood; 7 grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Harding Witmer of Maxwell and one brother, Alan Whitney of Santa Anna, Calif. Funeral services were held Friday July 1 at the Chapel of Turner Stevens Co., Marengo Ave. at Holy St. with Dr. Max Morrison officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Mausoleum."
