Expressions of deep regret followed the announcement of the death of Mrs. A. Slattenow Wednesday forenoon, July 25. She had been in Mary Greeley Hospital since Monday morning for treatment for stomach trouble. Although her condition seemed critical for several days, her passing came as a great shock to her family and friends. The funeral services were held Saturday at 10 o'clock from the home and at 11:30 from the Lutheran church in Huxley, with the pastor, Rev. Berkle in charge. She was laid away beside her baby, Clifford, who preceded her in death only a few months. Mary Agatha Marie Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James O. Shaw was born in Norway, July 30, 1878. She came to this country with her parents when about four years of age. She was the oldest of thirteen children, all of whom survive her. She was united in marriage to Anton Slattenow February 25, 1903, at Kanawha, Iowa. Besides her husband, sister and brothers, she leaves an aged father and seven children, who are Mabel, James, Henrietta, Alma, Ora, Opal and Sanford. She had been a faithful member of the Lutheran church since childhood. Relatives who came to attend the funeral were Jas. O. Shaw and daughters, Misses Clara, Hulga, Lyda and Martha and Mrs. Oliver Folsen of Kanawha, Mrs. Peter Anderson, Iowa Falls, Mrs. Lena Sabo, Minneapolis, Mrs. Andrew Lande, Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. James Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shaw of Kanawha, Mrs. John Kalvig and Oley Shaw of Belle Mound, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lande, Luther, Mrs. F. A. Lande, Mrs. S. Rievold and Deo Slattenow of Kelley, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Slattenow of Nevada, Mrs. L. J. Kalvig of Kanawha.
