Funeral Services Held for Mitchell D. Cooper at Family Home

Funeral services for Mitchell D. Cooper, 80, who died at his home south of Colo Sunday were held on Tuesday afternoon from the home with Rev. G. O. Thompson of the Evangelical church of Colo in charge. Interment was in the Colo cemetery.

Mitchell D. Cooper was born in Licking county, Ohio, July 29, 1854 and died February 10, 1935 at his home south of Colo aged 80 years, 6 months and 11 days. He was the son of Joshua and Elizabeth Cooper.

He came with his parents to the vicinity of Colo in 1856 when he was two years old. His parent later settled on the farm where he had lived for the greater part of his life.

On February 19, 1885 he was united in marriage to Delila Jane Dickinson. This happy marriage lasted many years till the wife was called to her eternal home on June 28, 1929. Since that time he had lived with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Ms. Wilbur D. Cooper. They many kind ministrations to his comfort have made the past few years much easier to him.

Short-sighted at birth he never knew what it was to have good eyesight. As he grew older several attacks of typhoid fever caused his vision to fail, leaving him in total darkness the last 45 years.

Despite his handicaps he was able to engage in farming and by careful management and industrious effort was able to make a good livelihood for himself and wife. Much credit must also be given to his faithful companion in helping in the management of their affairs.

Mr. Cooper was a man of character and high ideals. He was a Christian whose faith ws strong in the power of God to meet his every need. He was looking forward with hope in the eternal promises of God. He was a good citizen, a true friend, sincere and loving sincerity so much that he hated any pretense of hypocrisy.

He is survived by two brothers, Wilbur D. Cooper of Colo and H. P. Cooper of Los O'Olivos, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Crawford ald of Los O'Olivos, Calif. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
