Funeral Services Held for Mrs. W. H. Boynton

Funeral services for Mrs. W. H. Boynton, 69, died at her home Friday, February 8, after an extended illness, were held Monday afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral Home with Rev. Jos. M. Kennedy of Central Presbyterian church in charge. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The services were attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends, including the six daughters with the family of those married. The only son Willard who lives at Monrovia, Calif., was here to see the mother a few weeks before her death and did not return for the funeral.

Ida Belle Lockwood was born at Mishawaka, Indiana, on Dec. 12, 1865. She was the second daughter of George and Frances Lockwood in a family of eleven children. When she was five years old she moved with her parents to Marshalltown, Iowa, where they lived for two years. At the age of seven she came to Nevada with he parents and since that time Nevada has been the place of her home. She graduated from the Nevada public school with the class of 1883. She then attended normal school and later taught in Story county schools in the vicinity of Roland.

She was united in marriage to Willard H. Boynton on October 30, 1884, in Nevada, Iowa. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. W. P. Payne. To this union were born seven children, Pearle, now Mrs. S. W. McKearney of Dows, Ia.; Jessie, now Mrs. Ted Koehrsen of Mason City, Ia.; Ruth, now Mrs. M. E. Hunt of Nevada; Bernice, now Mrs. Charles W. Smith also of Nevada; Willard H. Boynton of Monrovia, Cal., and Miss Edith Boynton and Miss Hazel Boynton who are still member of the parental home in Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Boynton observed their 50th wedding anniversary last October and it was for them a happy occasion despite the illness of Mrs. Boynton.

She was taken ill about the middle of last September and had been bed fast during the past five months. Everything was don for her that loving hands could do but her life could not be prolonged and she passed away at her home in Nevada on Friday evening, February 8, 1935, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 27 days.

Mrs. Boynton was one who dearly loved her home and found her greatest happiness in her home life. She was thoughtful of the needs and interests of her children and was especially interested in their educational advancement. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a great lover of flowers and the out-of-doors and she spent many happy hours with her flowers. She also loved to read and treasured many good books. Her life was full of interest for her husband, her children and her home. It was a simple and unpretending life. She is survived by her husband, by two sisters and three brothers, by her seven children and by eleven grandchildren.
