MRS. W. D. HIX DIED VERY SUDDENLY

FORMER ZEARING WOMAN VICTIM OF STROKE IN HOME AT RHODES

Special to the Journal.
Rhodes, Jan. 11--Mrs. W. D. Hix, 67, died very suddenly at her home here at midnight, following a stroke of apoplexy suffered a short time before. She had retired at 10:30 o'clock in her usual health.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 a the Methodist Protestant church here, with Rev. Waterman in charge, interment will be in the Eden cemetery at Rhodes.

Mrs. Hix, long time resident of the Zearing neighborhood was born in Illinois Grove in Marshall county, December 1, 1867, a daughter of James and Catherine Tight, pioneers of that neighborhood. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Walter D. Hix of Zearing, at State Center on July 4, 1885.

For twenty-three years their home was at Zearing, and in 1908 they moved to Cheyenne Wells, Colo., where they lived a year after which they returned to Iowa and located at State Center for a year.

They came to Rhodes in 1910 and this had since been their home. She is survived by her husband, sons George and Lester all of Rhodes, daughter Mrs. Ray Lightfoot of Zearing, and one grandchild. Two children died in infancy. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Sarah Corbett of Henrietta, Okla., and a brother Binford Tight of Visalia, Calif.
