He came to Iowa with his parents as a small boy and here he was married to Emma Thurston, February 6, 1875, she being a resident of Jasper county.
One daughter, Daisy Chivers was born to this union and she with four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren are left to mourn the passing of these pioneers.
Other near relatives left are brothers Charles McQuiston and C. P. McQuiston and sister, Mrs. George Vasey of Collins; a brother, George McQuiston of Colfax and sister Mrs. Dora Holmes of Des Moines.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: I believe this article has both the place of birth and place of death wrong for John Quincy McQuiston. He was born in Indiana according to census, and his siblings born before and after him were born in Indiana. Daisy Chivers' home (where John McQuiston died) was in Polk County, Wisconsin and there is no Centuria, Missouri-- however, there is a Centuria, Polk County, Wisconsin.
