JONAS LEWIS, AGED PIONEER IS DEAD
HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF PALESTINE COMMUNITY FOR MANY YEARS
Cambridge, Sept. 24--Funeral services for Jonas Lews, 92, pioneer of this part of the county, who died at his home in Cambridge early Sunday morning, will be held at the Lutheran church here Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, after which interment will be in Palestine cemetery.
Lewis, pioneer farmer of northwest of Cambridge for many years, was one of the prominent residents of this community. He leaves his wife and 12 children. He had been ill for some time.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the local Lutheran church of which he was a charter member for Jonas Lewis, 92, Cambridge man who had been a resident of and near Cambridge for over 70 yeas. He was twice married, the father of ten children with each marriage, 15 of whom survive him and were present at the last rites except one son Oscar of North Bend, Ore. who was unable to come. His wife, 37 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren also survive him. Rev. Peter Buland, his pastor, had charge of the services. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers. A written message was read by Rev. Buland from his form pastor Axel Shefveland, Fergus Falls, who is a brother of Mrs. Lewis. Interment was in the Palestine cemetery the family burial plot. A good man has gone from his family, friends and neighbors.
