Funeral Services for Mrs. Richardson
Special to the Journal.
Huxley, Aug. 18--Funeral services for Mrs. Anfin Richardson were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Palestine church following a brief service at the home at 1:30. Services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. Peder Buland, who spoke in the English language. A hymn "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name" was sung by the audience. "Does Jesus Care" was rendered by the choir and a quartet number "Going Down The Valley" was sung by June Sheldahl, Gladys Tweedt, Robert Larson and Walter Christopher.The floral offerings were beautiful and many and there were also donations to the missions in her memory by the Ladies' Aid and others.
Rudy Vilan-Richardson was born and baptized at Slater, Iowa. She was confirmed in Wisconsin. She was married to Mr. Anfin Richardson on Oct. 12, 1920, and they have resided on the Richardson farm 4 1/2 miles southeast of Huxley since that time.
She has been suffering from brights disease, dropsy and complications and was a patient in Des Moines hospitals the greater part of the time since before Christmas. She passed away at Broadlawns hospital, on Sunday evening, Aug. 12th at 8 o'clock, having reached an age of 32 years, 6 months and 15 days. An infant son, who lived only a few days and her father, Rasmus Viland, have preceded her in death a number of years ago. She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Rasmus Viland of Des Moines, two sisters, Mrs. Kemp Caranaham of Des Moines, and Mrs. Elmer Dobbe of near Huxley; two brothers, Paul Viland of Mason City, and Milo of near Huxley.
Pallbearers were Roy Johnson, Sanford Heggen, S. H. Nass, Ole Hauge, Gunder Sorhus and Robert Hynd.
Burial was made in the Palestine cemetery.
John Richardsson of Minneapolis and Theodore Heggen of Ames were among those from a distance at the funeral.
