MRS. LUTZ DIED AT ZEARING TODAY

HAD LONG BEEN RESIDENT OF THAT PART OF STORY COUNTY

Zearing, March 20--Mrs. Emma Gehn Lutz [should be Emma Gehm Lutz], 70, passed away at 2:00 a.m. today at her home in Zearing. Ill for over a year from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, she had been confined to her bed since November 26, 1933, at the time of the second stroke. The third stroke came early Sunday morning.

She was born May 15, 1863 at Lostant, Ill. where she grew to young womanhood and was married on January 23, 1889 to John W. Lutz.

They located their first home near Springfield, Neb., where they lived until 1899, when they came to Iowa and located on a farm southwest of Zearing.

Mr. Lutz died in October, 1906 and she continued to live upon the farm until 1914, when she moved into Zearing and established her home and here she had since lived.

She was confirmed a Lutheran but transferred her membership to the Evangelical church in Zearing, in which she became an active and devoted member. She took part in the activities of the various organizations of the church as long her health would permit.

There were five children in the family, George, Nettie, Lewis and Lydia Skeie, all of whom survive the mother; one daughter Mrs. Carolyn Wykle who preceded the mother in death.

She also leaves nine grandchildren and four sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Minnie Webber of Streeter, Ill., Mrs. Julia Pearson of Los Alamos, Calif., Mrs. John Groh of Haviland, Ohio and Mrs. Tillie Heisel of Little Falls, Minn. Two sisters and one brother are dead.

Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Evangelical church. Burial in Zearing cemetery beside her husband.
