Earlier Day Nevada Woman Is Dead After Long Illness

Mrs. Ella M. Delay, a longtime resident of Ryan and Manchester, Iowa, and a one-time resident of Nevada, died at her home in Manchester, Feb. 11, after an illness of fifteen years. She suffered a paralytic stroke a few days previous to her death.

Funeral services were held in St. Mary's church in Manchester and burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery in Ryan. Rev. J. J. Smith of Manchester was in charge of last rites. The Rt. Reverend Monsignor John J. Mally, pastor of the Immaculate Conception church of Cedar Rapids, Rev. Patrick Behan of Anamosa, Rev. Wm. McGovern of Monticello, Rev. J. F. McCafrey of Masonville and Rev. D. P. Cregan of Rya were in attendance at the services.

The deceased was a native of Ireland coming at the age of 21 to the United States with her brothers, Rev. M. S. Murphy and Rev. Daniel Murphy. She acted as housekeeper for Rev. M. S. Murphy when he was pastor of St. Patrick's church in Nevada and St. Mary's church in Colo and also was his housekeeper in Castle Grove.

She was married Nov. 14, 1888 to Dennis D. Delay, who preceded her in death June 29, 1932. She is survived by three sons, Matthew Delay of Cedar Rapids, William and James L. of Manchester. A daughter died at the age of nine years. Miss Kay Corcoran, a registered nurse of Manchester, had made her home with Mrs. Delay since early childhood.
