Funeral Services Held Friday for Florence Glasgow

Florence Glasgow was born to William and Rachel Kitchen May 6, 1881, and died April 17 at 4 a. m. at the Story County Hospital in Nevada at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 18 days. She was married to Brick Glasgow Dec. 18, 1901.

Eight children were born to this union: Major Glasgow of Waterloo; Freddie, who preceded them in death Jan. 7, 1905; Lola Glasgow Williams, who preceded her parents in February 1956; Lester, Nevada; Elva, Nevada; Ina Bell Glasgow, Pogue, Hartland, Minn.; a baby boy who died Oct. 12, 1916; and Leroy, of Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs. Glasgow's husband, Brick, preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1925.

Mrs. Glasgow was born and reared in the Iowa Center community and attended the Dalton school there. In 1944 she came to Nevada to live with her daughter, Elva, where she made her home the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Glasgow was a member of the Nevada Evangelical Church. She had 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, five brothers, all of whom preceded her in death, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and a community of relatives and close friends.

Services

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Glasgow were held at the Ryan Funeral Home Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Link officiating.

The soloist, Mrs. Lois Kline, sang three songs, "The Old Rugged Cross", "Abide With Me," and "In the Garden," accompanied by Miss Beeula Settle at the organ.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. John Holley and Mrs. Leo Sutherland.

Casket bearers were Kenneth Johnson, Forest Kitchen, Cecil Kitchen, Clifford Kitchen, Ralph Moore, Grant Vincent and Nathan Vincent.

Interment was in the Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center.
