Funeral Service for Wm. Glasgow Accident Victim

Special to the Journal.
Cambridge, Aug. 4--Funeral services for William T. Glasgow, 68, farmer of the White Oak community south of here, who met death in a motor car accident on No. 65 south of Ames Saturday evening, were held at the family residence Wednesday afternoon, after which interment was in White Oak cemetery.

The funeral was one of the largest ever held in the community. The service was in charge of Rev. Peterson of Cambridge and the songs were by a male quartette consisting of Dr. Houser, C. M. Webb, E. O. Mattox and Rev. Peterson.

Pallbearers were Paul Richardson, George Richardson, George McHone, Ted McHone, Alfred Pence and Frank Hitchcock.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Joe Cannon of Ankeny, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Glasgow of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Sheffield and Mrs. Lottie Thompson of Lanesboro, Mrs. Milton Colgrove, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Colgrove of Lake City, Mr and Mrs. John Freeman of Manson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Savacool of Auburn, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Sparks and daughter Helen of Moline, Ill; Mr. and Mrs Ira Glasgow of Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Romar Glasgow of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Glasgow, Fergus Falls, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Erva Hansen, Ames, Mrs. Vern Krause, Yetter, Iowa, Mrs. Mable Taylor, Chicago; Miss Mable Glasgow, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bates, Nevada, Leo Hewitt, Chicago, Mrs. Lester LeGore, Scranton, Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Wolf, Collins; Mary Dunahoo, Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. O'Mara, Grimes, ad Mrs. Hutton, Ankeny, Mrs. Joe Canney, Ankeny.

William Thomas Glasgow was born at Indianola, June 8th, 1866, and died July 28th, 1934, at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 20 days.

He spent his childhood in the vicinity of Nevada and Iowa Center until at the age of 19, he moved to Calhoun county. He was united in marriage to Ellen Freeman of Lake City, on Aug. 14, 1887, and resided in that vicinity until 1891 when he moved back to Story county, where he lived until 1902 when he moved to his present home south of Cambridge, where he resided until his untimely death.

Mr. Glasgow was a good neighbor and a kind friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed in the neighborhood.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, ten children, eighteen grandchildren and one great grand child, Little James Lee Bates of Shipley, Iowa; Walter Glasgow of Jefferson, Ore.; Ira of Lake City, Iowa; Olive Savacool of Auburn, Iowa; Gladys Sparks of Moline, Ill.; Clarence of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Roemer, of Chicago, Ill.; Russell of Clarinda, Iowa, twin daughters, Mrs. Erva Hansen of Ames and Mrs. Irma Spangler of Clinton and Clark, who resides at home.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. F. E. Woods of Pasadena, Calif., and two infant sons, Arnold and Francis and his parents. He also leaves to mourn, five sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Mary Dunahoo, Mrs. Truia Dunahoo, Mrs. Bertha Hall, Mrs. Hanna Moore, all of Maxwell and Mrs. Zera Doggett of Cambridge, Nathan Glasgow of Calif., Ernest of Maxwell, and Mark of Des Moines, besides hosts of friends and other relatives.
