Kalsem Funeral Rites Held On Wednesday

Funeral services for Falten Kalsem were held on Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the Palestine Lutheran Church at Huxley wit the Rev. Harry Stoutland in charge, assisted by the Rev. Peter Buland of Cambridge.

Arthur Kalsem of Cambridge sang "In The Garden" and "Sometime We'll Understand."

Pallbearers were Olem Tesdall, Ole Fjelland, George Anderson, Walter Williams, Jerome Hall and Burton Tesdall.

Burial was in the Lincoln Cemetery at Midvale north of Huxley. Riis Funeral Home was in charge.

Obituary

Falten Kalsem was born Tuesday, Februar 4, 1886 in Nedstranc, Stavanger, Norway. His parents were Peder and Ellen Kalsem. He came to America at the age of 19 years and settled in the Huxley community.

For many years Mr. Kalsem was engaged in business in Huxley. He continued to live in Huxley until his death on Mar. 27, 1955 at the age of 89 years.

On March 25, 1914 he was married to Bertha Valen of Slater. To them were born five children, four sons and one daughter. He is survived by his wife, Bertha, four sons, Palmer of Baltimore, Maryland, Burnis, Faltin Jr, Kenneth and one daughter all of Des Moines.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Karina, Bolette and Sina and one brother Olaus. For many years he was a member of the Lincoln church in Huxley.
