Funeral Services Held For M. M. Eggland, 63

ROLAND -- Funeral services for the late M. M. Eggland, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Saturday morning, November 10, were held on Tuesday afternoon last week, with a prayer service at the Erickson Funeral home at 1:30 and at Salem Lutheran church, of which he had been a life long member, at 2, with the Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery.

Music was furnished by O. S. Boyd and Don Body. The casket bearers were nephews of the deceased, Don Wiggen of Story City, Irwen, Ernest, Richard, Eric and Emery Eggland.

Obituary

Martin McCall Eggland, 63, son of the late Ingebrit and Julia Eggland, was born on the Eggland farm southeast of Roland on September 2, 1888. He was married on April 17, 1915 to Vivian Myrah, who passed away in 1943.

He was employed at one time at the Farmer's Savings Bank, Farmers Elevator Company and Marshall Canning Co. At the time of his death he was employed at Iowa State college. He was a co-partner with Jacobson and Duea in a general store here. He was also at one time secretary of the school board of Roland schools and of Salem Lutheran church.

He is survived by two daughters (Suzanne) Mrs. Laurence Overland of Denver, Colo., and (Julie Anne) Mrs. Charles Peters of Barrington, Ill.; one son James Eggland of South Bend, Indiana; six grandchildren, Juliana and Kristene Overland, Michaele, Stephen, Christopher and Jonathan Peters; two sisters, Mr. Malinda Grove of Roland and Julia Eggland of Port Jervis, N. Y.; and three brothers, Albert, Adolph and Sam of Roland.

Among those from out of town were Atty. and Mrs. H. E. Hadle, Mrs. Sara Enlow, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pond and Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Thompson of Nevada.
