Alvin J. Sowers Died Suddenly at Story City Store

Story City, Nov. 15--Alvin J. Sowers, 44, well-known seed merchant of Story City, died at the office of his seed and feed store here Saturday evening 7:30. Death came suddenly from an attack of acute indigestion.Mr. Sowers had been at work throughout the day, had made his usual trip home for supper and and had just returned to the office when he suffered the fatal attack.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Evangelical church at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon, following prayer at the home at 1:30. The funeral will be in charge of his pastor, Rev. G. L. Bergeman an burial will be in Fairview cemetery here.
Mr. Sowers was a charter member of the Big Brothers Sunday class of Grace church, had always been active in the work an was one of the very popular figures in the organization.
Alvin J. Sowers was born on the old Albert Sowers homestead three miles northwest of Story City, but for over 12 yeas had conducted a seed business in Story City, having taken over a large business and expanded the business about a year ago.
A cripple all of his life, he had, by hard work and perseverance, made for himself a place in the commercial field and had been very successful in his activities in spite of his physical handicap.
He leaves besides his wife and daughter Jean (age two years), his mother, Mrs. Maria Sowers, a sister, Mrs. John Anderson and brothers Wilbur and Clarence of Story City and a brother Earl L. Sowers of St. James, Minn.
