Obituaries
Edith Olive Erickson
Jan. 2, 1918, to Feb. 26, 1996Edith Olive Erickson, 78, of Cambridge, died of heart failure on Feb. 26, 1996, in Des Moines.
She was born on Jan 2, 1918, to Arthur B. and Bessie Murray in Russell.
She grew up in the Des Moines area, graduating from North High School in 1936 and moving to Cambridge in 1947 where she lived until moving to Des Moines in December of 1994.
She married Berkley G. Fletcher on Nov. 25, 1938. He died during World War II in a plane crash in August of 1945. On Aug. 2, 1947, she married George Erickson, who died on Oct. 22, 1988.
She retired in 1980 from her position as postal clerk at the Cambridge Post Office. She was a former member of the Cambridge Library Board and the Dorcas Society of Cambridge.
Survivors include three sons, Berkley Fletcher of Des Moines, Lynn Erickson of Des Moines and Karl Erickson of Falls City, Neb.; nine grandchildren: Berkley Dean Fletcher, Kent Fletcher, Jennifer Fletcher, Brett Erickson, Casey Erickson, Anders Erickson, Emily Erickson, Melissa McMahon and Timothy Snow; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and one brother, Bill Murray.
Funeral services are Thursday, Feb. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home, Slater. The Rev. David Sikkema will officiate. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambridge Library.
