Mrs. Isaac Strum Dies Unexpectedly
Mrs Isaac (Bertha) Strum, 71, of Roland died unexpectedly at her home Thursday afternoon at 3 p. m.
Born April 18, 1888 at Petersburg, North Dakota, the daughter of Otis and Johanna Helland, she had lived most of her life north of McCallsburg until 1944 when she and her husband moved to Roland.
She is survived by her husband, Isaac; her mother, Mrs. Johanna Helland of McCallsburg; four sons, Wayne of Ames, Arlo of Des Moines, Jarl of Roland and Oris of Racine, Minn. and two daughters, Irene Strum and Mrs. Lila Hall, both of Ames.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Moon of Skookie, Ill., Mrs. Sadie Sampson of Nevada, Mrs. Minerva Brink [should be Krink] of Emuncall, Wash., and Mrs. Lavina Johnson of Williams, Iowa; three brothers, Clarence Helland of Roland, John Helland of McCallsburg and Otis Helland of Spokane, Wash. and 16 grandchildren.
Her father, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 4 with a prayer service at the Erickson Funeral Home in Roland at 1:15 p. m. and services at the Bethany Lutheran Church, McCallsburg, at 2 p. m. Burial will be in the Roland cemetery. Rev. Perry Heller will officiate at the services.
Erickson Funeral Home of Roland is in charge of arrangements.
