Funeral services for A. W. Huhn, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home, Thursday afternoon (October 4) at 2:30 with the Rev. Floyd A. Smith officiating.

The casket bearers were Gaylon Huhn, Loren Huhn, Virgil Huhn, Chester Shalley, Ivan Shalley and Earl Shalley.

The local Masonic lodge attended the services in a body and held Masonic rites at the graveside with I. R. Kempkes in charge. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.

Arlie W. Huhn, youngest son of John and Anna Eva Huhn, was born at Arcanum, Darke County, Ohio on October 3, 1886 and passed away at the Story County Hospital, after a very short illness, on Monday, October 1, 1951. He was almost 65 years old at the time of his death.

When he was six months old the family moved to Indiana. At the age of 13 years he came to Iowa, living in the Hickory Grove and Fernald communities. He was a successful farmer. He was married to Mattie Doss December 19, 1905. To this union two children were born. They are Kenneth Huhn of Nevada and Miss Doris Huhn of Stanhope.

He was married to Addie Hall in 1931. Mrs. Huhn survives her husband.

There are four surviving sisters, namely: Mrs. Edward Shalley of Nevada; Mrs. Abbie Reed of Philo, Illinois; Mrs. Nellie Wood of Boynton, Oklahoma; Mrs. Oma Farren of McLean, Texas. There are a half-brother and half-sister surviving. Also, one granddaughter, Sue Ann Huhn, of Nevada survives. Numerous other relatives and many friends are left to mourn the loss of this brother.

He was a member of the Evangelical Church and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Huhn was a member of a large family, there being 10 children in his immediate family, however, according to the number remaining we can see that another of the pioneer families of our community are fast passing into the great beyond.

His sudden death was a severe shock to his family. The presence of his brethren in this lodge of mourning and the others who have turned aside today to pay tribute to his memory should be a real comfort to the bereaved.

Out of town relatives attending the last rites were from Indiana, Minnesota, Kansas City, Ames, Bondurant, Stanhope, Britt, Mt. Pleasant, Adel and possibly elsewhere.
