Patrick O'Donnell, another of the old settlers of Story County, passed away at his home four miles northeast of Colo Sunday night, after an illness of less than a week's duration. He was born in Lugboy, Mayo County, Ireland in 1845 and in 1857 emigrated to America, first settling in Pennsylvania and in 1860 removed to Illinois where he was married to Bridget Brady in 1867. To this union were born one daughter and two sons, the daughter dying at the age of five years, leaving the two sons---Luke and Conner, to console the aged widow, who is called to mourn the loss of her companion. He came to Colo with his family 34 years ago, living in town several years, after which he settled upon the homestead north of town, where he has resided for the last 25 years. He was an honest man, a good neighbor, and well thought of by all who knew him. Besides the members of his immediate family he leves a sister in Illinois, who with his cousin, Martin O'Donnell of this place are the only surviving relatives in this country. The funeral services were held in Colo on Tues. from St. Mary's Church at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. Father Nicholas, after which interment was made in St. James Cemetery, Colo. Patrick O'Donnell, another old settler, died Sunday evening, April 3 (1904) after a short illness. the remains were laid to rest in St. James Cemetery, April 5th. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Father Nichols.
Patrick O'Donnell was born in Ireland 78 years ago, came to the United States in 1860, was married to Bridget Brady in 1867, came to Colo 44 years ago, living in town for awhile, then moved onto a farm northeast of Colo which continued to be his home till his death.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Luke and Conner. He was a highly respected citizen and neighbor and leaves many friends.

The last rites were held at the Catholic Church on Tuesday, after which the remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery in Colo.
