DEATHS

Peter W. Barnes

Funeral services for Peter W. Barnes were held Friday Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. Rev. Marvin Nygaard officiated.

Mrs. Richard Snyder accompanied by Mrs. Jacob Lee sang two favorite hymns of Mr. Barnes, "Beautiful Savior" and "Rock of Ages."

Pastor Nygaard based his meditation on 1st Corinthians 15th Chapter on Christ Rising from the dead. Pall bearers were: Eugene Thompson, Sherman Thompson, Ralph Thompson, Gerhard Lande, John Brendeland and Noble Twedt.

Burial was in Fjeldberg cemetery near Huxley.

Peter William Barnes, oldest son of George H. and Sarah B. Barnes, was born in Polk Co., Iowa, December 12, 1898.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Fjeldberg Church at Huxley. He lived in the Alleman community all of his life and took care of his parents in their ol ag.

He passed away at his home near Alleman in the early morning of September 5, 1973.

He is survive by four sisters an two brothers: Mrs. Jacob (Emma) Lande of Wheaton, Minn.; Mrs. C.T. (Anna) Hovland of Kiester, Minn.; Mrs. Martin (Laletta) Lande of Janesville, Minn.; Mrs. Bertha Peterson of Polk City; Holdar M. Barnes of Cole Camp, Mo., and George Barnes of Alleman.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters: Mrs. Georgia Lodden, Mrs. Dora Okdahl [should be Opdahl] and Mrs. Marie Adams.
