DEATH

Ralph J. Brown

Ralph James Brown, son of Grant and Cora Brown, was born October 19, 1905 on a farm south of Story City and passed away in the Story City Memorial Hospital September 8, 1973. He lived his entire live on the farm on which he was born, with the exception of the years he spent in the United States Army during World War II.

He has been an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church since 1919.

He was also an active member of the Story City American Legion Post 59.

He was engaged in farming until a few years ago when he retired, but remained living on the farm.

He is survived by two sisters: Ruth, Mrs. Ralph Miller of Ames; Arlene, Mrs. Silas Nygard of Forest City; and five brothers Homer of Story City, Reno of Ames, Dwight of Memphis, Tenn., Orson of Iowa City and Paul of Cheyenne, Wyoming; also many friends who will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Vera Brown. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Grace United Methodist Church, Story City, with the Rev. Paul H. Beckman officiating. A brief eulogy was given by Joel Ose. Burial was in the Gilbert Cemetery, Gilbert.

Mrs. Dorrel Doolittle, organist, accompanied Delbert Quam, soloist, as he sang "There's Room at the Cross" and "Rock of Ages."

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Story City American Legion Post 59.

Casketbearers were Gaylord Henryson, Burnice Jacobson, Wendell Patterson, Walter Mortvedt, Joe Romsey and Ralph Stull.
