Obituary of Mrs. Julia Johnson
Julia Anderson Johnson, daughter of Emmanuel and Augusta Anderson, was born near Norway, Iowa, on January 13, 1880, and passed away in Ames, Iowa on December 13, 1966, at the age of 86 years and 11 months. She had been in failing health the past 6 1/2 years and had been a resident in a nursing home in Ames for the past two years.
She was baptized in Benton County Lutheran Church, Norway, Iowa, and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Jewell. With her parents she moved to this community when she was about 14 years of age and had lived in this community since then.
She was married to Ole K. Johnston February 10, 1897. To this union were born four daughters and two sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died August 14, 1939; her sons, Ernest and Harris; and one grandson, Laverne Osmundson, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her four daughters, Clara Jacobson of Roland, Grace (Mrs. Jesse Osmundson) of Radcliffe, Ferne (Mrs. Homer Lewis) of McCallsburg, and Ora (Mrs. Merle Twedt) of Roland; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Knutson of Radcliffe, and many other relatives.
The funeral service was held in Salem Lutheran Church in Roland on Friday, December 16 with Pastor Everett Nelson officiating. Mrs. Loren Twedt sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "There is a Balm in Gilead". Interment was in the Roland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Virgil Jacobson, Loren Jacobson, Robert Lewis, Richard Johnson, Glenn Holland and James Twedt.
