Silas Wierson Dies Monday at His Home in Roland
Silas O. Wierson of Roland died at his home Monday, Nov. 7, at 8 a.m. of a heart attack.
He was born near Radcliffe May 28, 1896, the son of Severt and Tilla Wierson. Wierson farmed near Radcliffe until 29 years ago when he moved to Roland.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 9 at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Rev. Howard Lybeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery.
Wierson was a veteran of World War I and there will be a military service at the graveside.
He is survived by his wife, (Lulu) Mrs. Silas Wierson, one daughter, (Sharon) Mrs. Roger Christianson of Garner, two step children, (Roberta) Mrs. Jack Gutmann of Ames and Dale Classon of Marshalltown; four grandchildren, two brothers, M. W. Wierson and Eamel both of Radcliffe, three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Baaka [should be Barka] of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Olava Lee of Story City and Mrs. Elma Ericson of Ames.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.
