DEATHS
Funeral services for Mrs. Nels Flugum were held on Tuesday afternoon October 11 at the Palestine Lutheran Church at Huxley at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Noel Larson served at organist and accompanied Mrs. Osmund Larson, Jr. and Mrs. Edward Larson as they sang two duets, "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus" and "O Take My Hand, Dear Father."
The Rev. Marvin Johnson of Marshalltown (married to a niece of Mrs. Flugum) was the clergyman in charge of the services. His message was based on the text, "Underneath Are The Everlasting Arms" from Deuteronomy.
Pallbearers were Lester Larson, Lawrence Larson, Osmond Larson, Jr., Edward Larson, Noel Larson and Rudy Larson, all nephews of the deceased.
Interment was in the Palestine Cemetery.

Mary Larson was born on October 10, 1889 in northern Polk County. Her parents were L. O. and Randie Larson. She grew up in the Huxley Community and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Deeply interested in education, she attended Waldorf College in Forest City, St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. and Highland Park College in Des Moines and was a teacher in several localities.
On August 7, 1929, she was united in marriage to Rev. Nels Flugum and was active in several congregations as a pastor's wife and as a mother.
About eight years ago, she suffered a stroke and for past three years lived at the Iowa Lutheran Home in Madrid, where she died October 8, 1966 at 77 years of age.
Survivors are her husband, Rev. Flugum of Forest City, two sons, Philip and Randolph in California, one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Esther) Wilde of Grafton, eleven grandchildren, one sister, Miss Carrie Larson of Des Moines, two brothers, Henry of Cambridge and Lewis of Huxley, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
