E. B. Christian, 80, Roland Man, Dies
Edward Benjamin Christian, 80, retired Roland farmer, died of a heart attack at his Roland home Thursday, March 10.
Born July 3, 1885 in Roland, he was the son of John and Cecelia Christian who were pioneer settlers in the Roland community. He lived his entire life in Roland.
On June 24, 1909 he was married to Hannah Guvine Logan. She preceded him in death in 1952. He retired from farming in 1945 and moved to town, but continued to be active, helping his sons on their farms.
Survivors include six children - two sons, Cyrus J. Christian and George L. Christian both of Roland; four daughters, Alice (Mrs. Carroll Twedt) of Des Moines; Edith (Mrs. Lester Molde) of Chetek, Wisc., Lois (Mrs. Charles A. Bane) of Omaha, Nebr., Clarice (Mrs. Harold J. Bullington) of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also a nephew, Boyd Teig of St. Paul, Minn. who had made his home with the Christians until 1936 and a brother, Otis H. Christian of Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14 at 2 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. The Rev. Everett Nelson will officiate and burial will be in the Roland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Soderstrum Funeral Home, Roland until noon on Monday.
